The Mekeo Tendances association is mainly made up of the Martin family, originally from Chamoson, in Valais. Under the impetus of the Rencontres de Folklore Internationales de Friborg (RFI) and the sustained interest of its artistic director, Lauriane Zosso, for the traditional ornaments of Papua, the 3 sisters Claire, Lucy and Nicole, of a Valais father and a Mekeo mother , decide to invite a group of dancers from their Papuan village to embark on the adventure.
With stars in their eyes at the idea of seeing other Papuans, real ones, arriving in Switzerland, and proud that their tribe is being honored in Europe, the 3 sisters are taking friends and family on board this crazy project.
This is how, taking root in Valais, between an abundance of ideas and laughter, ricocheting between the stone walls of a Chamos cellar, the Mekeo Tendances association was born, in the most Valais way possible... around a glass of white wine!
